We Accept Your MSA Health & Dental Plan

Full-time Mohawk students are automatically covered by the MSA Health & Dental Plan. The plan is administered through Studentcare, now becoming Alumo, with Health & Dental coverage insured by Securian Canada under group number MHK. Bring your MSA plan card or benefit information to your appointment; we can process eligible claims directly. Graduate and part-time students may have different eligibility rules or may need to self-enrol, so check your MSA coverage before booking.

MSA Coverage Through Securian Canada

The current MSA plan year runs from September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027, with dental coverage of up to $750 per policy year.
Treatment Plan Pays You Pay
Preventive services 70% 30%
Preventive / basic services 50% 50%
Fillings 70% 30%
Basic services 20% 80%
Major restorative services Not covered 100%

Coverage is calculated according to the applicable provincial dental fee guide and plan limits. Certain exclusions and limitations apply.
For treatment expected to cost $300 or more, the MSA recommends submitting a treatment plan to Securian Canada for approval before treatment.

International Students: guard.me and Your MSA Dental

Domestic Sheridan students, either full-time or part-time, are generally enrolled in the Sheridan Student Union (SSU) Health & Dental Plan as long as they’re eligible.

Bring your MSA/Studentcare benefit card when visiting the dentist, not just your guard.me information.

Dental Care Between Classes

Weekday appointments are available until 7 PM, with Saturday appointments until 5 PM.

Wisdom tooth extraction is covered under the MSA plan according to the applicable extraction and oral-surgery benefits. We can check your remaining coverage before treatment.
For an urgent dental problem, call to ask about same-day emergency availability. Your MSA plan may cover eligible emergency dental services according to its limits.
Preventive care is one of the better-covered areas of the MSA dental plan. Exams and cleanings have specific frequency limits, so we can check your available benefits before your appointment.
Fillings are covered at 70% under the MSA plan, subject to the plan’s rules and annual maximum. We can check your remaining balance before treatment.
Root canal treatment is included under the MSA plan’s endodontic benefit at 20% of the applicable fee guide, subject to plan limits and exclusions.

No Upfront Cost: We Bill Your Plan Directly

We submit eligible claims to the MSA plan from our office. Securian Canada processes the claim, and you pay the portion that remains after your plan coverage.
At the beginning of the fall term, there is a blackout period from September 1 to October 31 while coverage information is processed. Your coverage still begins September 1. During the blackout period, direct billing may not be available, so you may need to pay at the appointment and submit your claim afterward.
